Supermassive black holes

Galaxies, composed of stars and gases, typically extend hundreds of thousands of light years. It is widely accepted in our current understanding of galaxies that the majority of them harbor supermassive black holes at their centers. In a small portion of these cases, supermassive black holes exhibit an active phase, during which they not only consume surrounding gas but also expel fragments of it in the form of jets and winds. This matter ejected, called outflows outflows affects the sorrounding medium as a form of feedback mechanism which is considered as one of the powerful incidents that influences the evolution of galaxies. My research has been devoted to the identification and study of supermassive black holes with exceptionally powerful winds, aiming to unravel the effects they have on their host galaxies.
